Fab 5 Freddy walking out of White Castle
“White Castle was a a chain that sold small square hamburgers (you would buy at least five) at an incredibly low price, and it was the b-boys’ favourite back then. I remember, that day, going up to the Bronx with Freddy to go see Afrika Islam, and stopping there because one of them was hungry. Freddy lived downtown, close to my house, but we had to get a car to come from the Bronx to get us there (no driver from Manhattan would venture there). And because it was falsely called a ‘limo’, Freddy took a cigar to play the part; ‘living large’ was the motto.”
